Board:
Current board members: Steve Spradling-Chairman, Patty Apple, Diane
Courie, Laura Hucks, Philip Keilen, Johnnie Nichols, and Mary Whitum
There are currently vacancies on the Coastal School Ministries Board of
Directors. If you are interested in applying for the position of a
Board member, please contact the office at (843)293-0446.
The Board
of Directors of the Coastal School Ministries is vested with the responsibility
to prayerfully seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the management
and direction of the organization. The existing Board elects board
members from those they believe have been led to service by the Holy
Spirit. Our organization is an autonomous organization incorporated
under the laws of South Carolina. The Articles of Incorporation define
the role, functions and duties of the Board. Luke 9:23
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let
him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” NASB
In general, the roles of the Board of Directors are as follows:
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in
the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your
paths straight.” NASB
Planning and Policy Decision
- We plan to submit ourselves wholly to the calling of the Holy Spirit,
willingly moving to where God is working and establish policies,
according to His will, to guide the operation of the organization. To
do our best by living righteous lives in order that we may be receptive
to his instructions in hiring the Program Director.
Financial Development -
By diligently following the financial precepts of the Word of God and
by expectantly living through our faith, the Board will accept the
responsibility for funding the planning and policy decisions and for
insuring that the organization’s programs are adequately financed.
Monitoring and Sanction
- Prayerfully and to the glory of God, monitoring the implementation of
planning and policy decisions to thankfully experience the achievement
of His goals and His objectives; providing sanction, and enthusiastic
testimony to the work God is doing in the community. The testimony will
be based on His real achievements and the contributions to the
communities betterment through it’s ministry to the young people.
As the
ultimate planning and policy decision-making body of the organization,
the Board of Directors will manage not to get involved in too much
detail. Its emphasis will be on seeking the will of God and His goals,
objectives, strategies and directives. It will never duplicate what the
Program Director has been employed to do, but rather it will pray for
the Program Director and hold him/her accountable for implementation of
planning and policy decisions. Through the guidance and urging of the
Holy Spirit, the Board will establish other volunteer groups –
committees, councils, task forces, etc., and look to these groups for
the operational planning, policy recommendations and communication that
the Holy Spirit has convicted them to provide.
Romans
12:1-2 “I urge you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, to
present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual service to worship. And do not be conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you
may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable
and perfect.” NASB
